5 Healthy Smoothie Recipes for Summer

Have you ever wondered if smoothies are healthy? They are always marketed to us as these healthy drinks and meals, but how healthy are they. Well, this all depends on what you’re putting in them. Almost anything can be a smoothie, but not every smoothie is healthy. 

Simply filling a blender with anything you have on your fridge will result in a grey smoothie that tastes horrible. Just because a smoothie has delicious and nutritious ingredients doesn’t mean it will taste good. A good taste combo is one of the most critical elements when you’re making a smoothie. 

Without further ado, let’s get into these five delicious smoothie recipes that are refreshing and easy to make. Ps. they look incredible as well. 

5 Smoothies for Summer

Summer in a cup

This smoothie is the perfect refreshment for a hot summer day. The tanginess of the orange juice and the sweetness of the pomegranate & banana makes the perfect blend for a drink that will impress everyone.

To make the smoothie follow these instructions.

Ingredients: 

  • 1 1/4 cup frozen raspberries
  • 1 large ripe, sliced and frozen banana (1 banana yields ~1 cup)
  • 1/2 cup pomegranate juice
  • 3/4 cup orange juice
  • 3/4 cup Plain Unsweetened Almond Milk

Instructions:

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend until creamy and smooth, scraping down sides as needed.

Taste and adjust flavor as needed. Add more milk or fruit juice if too thick. Add more frozen banana if not sweet enough. Serve immediately. Freezes well (or make into Popsicles)

This one is for my sweet tooth peeps out there. Who says you have to eat something unhealthy just to satisfy your cravings. A balanced mix of healthy and nutritious ingredients that are also sweet and delicious is the perfect solution for a sweet summer snack.

To make the smoothie follow these instructions.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup frozen mango chunks
  • ½ cup chopped cooked sweet potato
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ cup pineapple juice
  • ¾ cup of water
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon agave syrup optional

Instructions:

Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend on high until smooth and creamy. Pour into glasses and serve immediately.

The lightest and most exquisite but also the sweetest and healthiest smoothie is simple to make and only requires 5 ingredients. One of them is protein powder so that you can have a summer & protein shake, 2in1. 

To make the smoothie follow these instructions.

Add all ingredients to a blender and blend on high for 30 seconds or until desired consistency is reached. If the shake is too thick, add more almond milk and blend again. If the shake is too thin, add more ice and blend again.

Pina Colada Smoothie Bowl

Yes, you read it right. There is such a thing as Pina Colada Smoothie Bowl. This recipe is quick and straightforward but also delicious and nutritious. You can have it for breakfast, as a snack, or as dessert. The important thing is that you try this recipe because it is incredible. 

To make the smoothie bowl follow these instructions.

Ingredients:

  • 1 banana – ripe
  • 1 cup pineapple chunk – frozen
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk ((full fat from a can))
  • Sliced banana
  • Toasted coconut chip

Instructions:

First, toast a hand full of coconut chips in a skillet over medium heat until the edges are golden brown and the smell is toasty. Put 1 banana, 1 cup pineapple and 1/2 cup of coconut milk in the blender and blend until smooth. Pour smoothie into a bowl, garnish with slices of fresh or frozen banana and toasted coconut chips. Serve immediately.

Pineapple & Coconut Smoothie

I don’t know about you, but as soon as I hear Pineapple and Coconut together, I think summer. On top of being the perfect summer refresher, this smoothie also contains protein powder, so that you can have your daily dose of protein. 

To make the smoothie follow these instructions.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1/2 to 3/4 cup pineapple juice
  • 1 scoop of Fitonomy Protein Powder in Vanilla
  • 3 cups frozen unsweetened pineapple chunks
  • 2 T unsweetened shredded coconut

Instructions:

Place ingredients in blender in the order listed. Blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
