What is Conjugated Linoleic Acid

CLA, short for Conjugated Linoleic Acid is a fatty acid found in meat and dairy that when combined with regular exercise, helps you boost exercise performance and see greater results.

Cla is classified as a healthy fat but ironically is can be found in products that have large amounts of unhealthy fats. Our bodies can not make CLA on their own but we do take it through our food and supplements. Most of the CLA we consume comes from livestock like cows, goats, sheep, etc. and grass-fed livestock has the highest levels of conjugated linoleic acid.

Linoleic Acid is the most common omega-6 fatty acid that is found in foods like vegetable oils and others. What makes CLA special is the Conjugated part which refers to the arrangements of the double bonds unique to this fatty acid. While it is technically a trans fat, it is a natural type of trans fat, found in healthy foods and does not harm your health.

What are the benefits of CLA

It is a known fact that if you want to define your muscles and make them more visible, you have to remove the fat that is around them. CLA does exactly that. This acid helps reduces body fat levels while at the same time fueling it to workout harder and grow muscles. As we now know, bigger muscles lead to more weight loss.

The benefits of Conjugated Linoleic Acid are:

  • Helps boost exercise performance
  • Boosts metabolism & promotes fat loss
  • Serves as an antioxidant
  • Increases vitality & longevity
  • Helps control type 2 diabetes

When is the best time to take conjugated linoleic acid

Our bodies do not make CLA but we have to take through our foods and supplements. If you are only relying on food for your CLA try to enrich your diet with foods high in it. You can find it in higher doses in grass-fed beef, cheese, whole milk, lamb, buttermilk, yogurt, butter, sour cream, etc.

But, if you do not enjoy these foods or can not eat them due to some other reason, there is another way how you can take the necessary dose of Cla. Taking cla supplements is the easiest way to ensure you are getting all the benefits and avoiding the bad stuff that might come with some of the foods mentioned above. As a dietary supplement, adults take two (2) soft gels daily, preferably with a meal.

What does conjugated linoleic acid do for the body

Cla has been widely used as a weight-loss supplement. When taken regularly in supplement form it can help the body lose weight and burn fat. What makes the conjugated linoleic acid different and more special and sets it aside from other weight loss supplements is that it does not help you lose water weight but burn fat. The cla fuels our muscles by delivering fat directly to the muscles so it can be burned and used as an energy source instead of the
